The Association operates three residential services, each with unique characteristics but having in common a caring, supportive environment to help people achieve their optimal level of independence. We aim to enhance all areas of life, including:

Where it can be reasonably accommodated, individuals are involved in the selection of staff to support them in various activities of daily living. Comfort levels and preferences of the individual are taken into consideration.

In order to receive quality services, individuals and their families are encouraged to participate in planning and making informed decisions about the service they receive. Each service plan reflects individual goals, and those goals are reviewed on a regular basis.

To assure that qualified staff members are employed in the residential department, staff are required to have a Community Support Worker Certificate or equivalent, First Aid with CPR certification, Criminal Record Search, and a satisfactory tuberculosis test. The Association seeks staff who have knowledge of the theories, values, and practices of community living, and who demonstrate an ability to provide personalized support and teach life skills. Staff must work alone, as well as part of a team, and display good communication skills.
