Dial a Ride
Transportation for people over 60
Dial-A-Ride provides individuals age 60 and over with transportation to medical appointments, medical care (Dialysis, physical therapy, counseling), pharmacies, and grocery stores. Wheelchair accessible vans are available. Because Medicaid provides medical transportation, individuals with that coverage are not eligible for CVACL medical transportation (but may qualify for non-Medicaid eligible appointments).
Transportation is provided on a first-come-first-serve basis for appointments Monday thru Friday between the hours of 8:30am and 2:30pm. We encourage a week's notice, but ask for at least three working days, to offer a better chance to fulfill your request. CVACL applies a sliding-scale fee. Income and medical expenses are taken into consideration.
New Freedom
Transportation for people under 60 living with a disability
This program is named after what it provides! The program allows adults 21+ who are living with a disability the “new freedom” of transportation to medical appointments, pharmacies, and grocery stores.
This non-emergency transportation system is operated in conjunction with the Dial-A-Ride program and follows all of the same guidelines.
Bedford Ride
Award Winning Volunteer Program serving Bedford County
Bedford Ride, serving the county of Bedford, provides transportation with two business days' notice. Two staff members and 100 volunteers provide easy and affordable transportation to non-emergency medical services on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Bedford Ride drivers are carefully screened and thoroughly trained volunteers who are caring, compassionate, and considerate. They drive safely, protect passenger confidentiality, and treat everyone with respect.
Following assessment and eligibility determination, individuals will be able to schedule a ride with at least two-business days’ notice. Office hours are Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30.
