Emergency Home Accessibility and Repair Program
The Emergency Home Accessibility and Repair Program (EHARP) provides funds to repair urgent structural damage, remove and remedy health and safety hazards, as well as provide physical accessibility improvements for low-income Virginians.
Assistance through CVACL is available to residents in Amherst, Appomattox, and Bedford Counties and is based on a first-come first-serve basis. Residents of the City of Lynchburg and Campbell County should contact Lynchburg Community Action Group (LynCAG) for possible assistance 434-455-1601.
Repairs can involve plumbing, structure, electrical, and HVAC. Installation of wheelchair ramps, shower grab bars and other accessibility modifications are available as well.
Homeowners and tenants are eligible to apply year-round, with the maximum assistance of $4,000..

Weatherization can provide the energy saving measures necessary to make your home more comfortable and affordable, and may even help you remain in your home.

Residential Repair Program
Minor problems can prevent you from living safely in your home. The Residential Home Repair Program assists qualified homeowners and tenants with various structural and accessibility repairs such as electrical, plumbing, heating/cooling, high-rise toilet installations, grab bars, ramps, and water heating systems.
The Residential Home Repair Program serves individuals currently receiving other services from CVACL in the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, and Campbell as well as the City of Lynchburg.
